To implement section targeting, you’ll need to add a set of special HTML comment tags to your code. These tags will mark the beginning and end of whichever section(s) you’d like to emphasize or de-emphasize for ad targeting.

An important issue in web design is search engine optimization. In simple terms search engine optimization is optimizing web pages to increase the ranking in search engines. Having a high ranking hugely increases traffic to web pages. This is because, in most cases, viewers will be looking through search engines and will not already know the link of your web page.
There are many different aspects and tricks that can be done to improve the position in which a web page is ‘ranked’. If you want to improve the ranking, it is important to understand how the major search engines function.

Search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN all use ‘bots’ to search for web page. Lets take Google as an example. The Google bot has two versions. The first version is called the Deep bot. The deep bot tries to follow every link and add as many pages as it can to the Google index. The second version called the fresh bot constantly crawls through the web in an attempt to find fresh new content.
So what does this all mean? Well here are the do’s and the don’ts I used to get Explosive Web Design indexed on Google in two days!
Do:
It’s often said that content is king. Having content that is different to the average web page is probably the most important step. This will boost the rankings of the site phenomenally as search engines are constantly looking for the freshest, newest information.
Secondly it is important to link your web page from forums, blogs and other popular sites. In saying this it is also natural that people will link your site if your content is worth linking. This boosts rankings as the deep bot tries to add as many pages found, into the index or alternatively people may click on the links in interest of your site. It is also important to have the link relevant to the key words on your web page, for example the link of this web page would be SEO improvement because the web page has to do with improving search engine optimization. Though on the other hand something like cool web page wouldn’t be relevant to link to this site because it isn’t about a Cool web page. In fact I noticed that within half an hour of linking from a popular site I was in the Google Index.
Constantly update the content on the web page. Not only does this improve the rankings on Google, but it also improves the amount of regular viewers, which intern creates more traffic.
Use Google’s webmaster tools. These tools will show diagnostics of your page(s), statistics, who’s linking to you and who you’re linking to. It can also be beneficial to add a site-map. If you are unsure on how to create a sitemap, an excellent tool to use is http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/
Submit your site to Google’s index. By submitting the site, it generally reduces the time taken for Google to index.
Use META tags. Even though it is a known fact that META tags barely or don’t effect search engines such as Yahoo and Google, older search engines may still use these tags to index websites.
Buy a domain name if there are sufficient funds. Generally domain names (such as .com, .net, .org, etc.) sound more professional and often get more clicks resulting in a higher position and higher traffic.
Put keywords or phrases into pictures by using ‘alt’.
Put important keywords in <H1> tags.
Put important keywords in the page’s title
Don’t:
Don’t put any content you want the search engine to see in flash* or image files. This is because search engines are unable to ‘see’ the text in flash files or image files.
Don’t put excessive amounts of content that is unrelated to the site. This reduces the chances of the website coming up on Google for what keywords that are actually wanted.
Don’t copy other people’s content. As said before the search engines look for new fresh content. If a web page has identical or very similar content the ranking of the page will drop dramatically or alternatively not be indexed at all.
Don’t put text the same color as the background and then type lots of key words or phrases in hope to get up rankings. This trick may have worked five years ago, but recently bots have been able to disregard any content with the same hex code as the background. In some cases people have been totally removed from the index of search engines because of excessive ‘invisible’ text.
These do’s can be put in place to ensure the highest search engine optimization possible and increase traffic exponentially. The don’ts should be avoided to reduce bad search engine rankings.

Plus, you’ll see how I turn articles into multiple formats and open up 5x as many link opportunities.

So, let’s dive in. We’ll start with one of my favorites…
Getting your site featured on major new sites is one of the best kept secrets in the blogosphere and I’m going to show you two different strategies for getting your links on sites like CNET, CNN,
FoxNews, Reuters, and USA Today.
The first technique uses a site called BlogBurst, a website that connects bloggers with mainstream media sites. Simply join the BlogBurst network and start getting picked up by some of the world’s most popular media sites.
All you need to do is submit your RSS feed. Once you’re accepted into the network, you’re articles will enjoy exposure on major media sites and a ton of extra publicity at no extra cost to you.
But it doesn’t end there… There’s actually an even simpler way to get your blog featured in major news sites like CNN, The Wall Street Journal, and Newsweek.
All you have to do is link to a story and a company known as Sphere.com matches up mainstream news items with articles in the blogosphere. Go to the bottom of any CNN story and you’ll see a drop down box that says: “From the Blogs”.
Click on the link and you will find blogs that are linking to the article. Not only does this put your blog on a major news website, it can also drive hundreds of visitors.
Sphere is also being used by TechCrunch, Time, Reuters, CBS, AOL, the Washington Post, WordPress, GigaOm, Newsweek, and ZDNet, allowing you to get your blog featured on any of these prestigious sites.
Now, here’s one of my favorite techniques for getting hundreds of high-quality one-way backlinks in just a few hours…
Best of all, it requires no additional “brain” work on my part. Here’s what I do. I take my articles and turn them into EXE files (an executable file).
This allows me to submit my article to hundreds of software directories. Each directory sends me a one-way backlink. Not to mention, hundreds of extra visitors.
Now, you’re probably thinking this is way too techy and complicated, but it’s really pretty simple. First, you need to get some free software called WebSiteZip Packer.
This will allow you to turn an HTML page into an executable (.exe) file. So all you need to do is put your article in HTML format, enter it into the software wizard, let it do a bit of magic, and an exe file pops out the other end.
You then need to create what’s called a PAD file and submit it to all the software download sites.
Now creating the PAD file is a bit more difficult. I actually used a program by Michelle MacPhearson called 30 minute backlinks to get complete step-by-step instructions on how to do this. So if you want to really take advantage of this method, she’s an incredible person to learn from.
This technique is extremely powerful and I’m surprised that more people aren’t doing this because it allows you to obtain unlimited one-way backlinks from sites with a PR of 4,5, 6 and 7.
Just think…you can easily turn all of your articles into exe files, meaning every article you write has the potential to create hundreds of links back to your site.
Now, if you want to take this strategy to the next level, I suggest you use a site called Download.com.
Download.com is one of the largest software directories online with a huge distribution. However, Download.com also offers a hidden benefit that most people miss.
Google LOVES download.com. It has extraordinary authority online, allowing you to get a Top-10 listing within Google in a matter of days. Just like Squidoo and Scribd can rank very quickly in Google, Download.com is another incredibly powerful tool for ranking in Google. However, most people haven’t discovered this hidden gem.

Another cool way to get backlinks is to streeeeetch your content by turning your articles into podcasts.
You can automatically turn all of your blog posts into podcasts using Talkr or Odiogo. These services use text-to-speech technology to convert text to audio.
All of your articles are now podcasts that you can submit to podcast directories. By converting your articles into multiple formats, you open up entirely new link building opportunities and expose your content to new audiences.
Why not turn your articles into ebooks, affiliate tools, emails, or even slides to post on SlideShare.net. Look for ways to leverage your existing assets…

Forum links!
I know, you’ve probably heard forum links are worthless but nothing could be further from the truth.
Forum links can be extremely powerful.
However, I do NOT suggest that you waste your time away on forums. Instead, I would look for popular forums related to your niche and buy sig links from the top users. These active users will likely have made thousands of posts and you can usually buy their sig links for pennies.
Seriously, most forum members don’t know how valuable their sig links are. This is especially true for forums outside of Internet Marketing. Look for forums that have a PR of 4 or higher and users that have at least 1,000 posts.
This technique works well for all 3 search engines, but it can quickly catapult you to a top 3 position on MSN. The key is to use a targeted keyword phrase in the anchor text of your sig links. I would shoot for a keyword phrase that’s 3 - 4 words long.
The next link building technique is a method that takes blog commenting to an entirely new level, allowing you to build thousands of backlinks in just a couple of weeks.
As you probably know, every time you make a comment on a blog you get to put your name in it. However, if you’re a smart SEO, then this is where you place your targeted keyword phrase, which is then hyperlinked back to your site.
Unfortunately… this is where most marketers stop.
But a few smart marketers look for Wordpress blogs with the Top Commentators plug-in installed.
This allows you to become a top commenter and get a site-wide link in the blog’s sidebar with your targeted keyword phrase. Unlike comments, these links are almost always do-follow. Start becoming a top commenter on just a few blogs and you will quickly build hundreds, if not thousands of links.
The final link building tactic is one of the most under-used strategies but also the most effective
when used properly. It’s internal linking.
Every one of your pages has inherent link power. By controlling the flow of link juice through your site you can dramatically increase your search engine rankings without having to build external links.
You can do this by adding the right links in strategic places on your website. Some of the most important pages on your site are the category pages. The category pages are listed as navigation links on the sidebar of your page. Because these links are site-wide, they can be extremely powerful for ranking for your targeted keyword phrases. These category links should contain the anchor text for the top keyword phrases you want to rank for.
Another powerful strategy for optimizing your internal link structure is to use contextual links. These
are links that are present within the body of an article. Wikipedia is one of the very best examples in the use of contextual links. Almost all of their articles have contextual links peppered throughout the content. Each one of these links leads to a related page on Wikipedia.
This extremely powerful network of contextual links has enabled Wikipedia to dominate the top
positions in Google.
Another way to boost your internal link structure is by utilizing footer links. This is a great place to use links to target different variations and modifiers of your core terms. For example, if one of your core keyword phrases is “golf wedding favors”, you might place a link in your footer for “golf ball wedding favors”, which is a variation on the core phrase.
These footer links allow you to target a broader range of keywords. Don’t limit yourself to using the same footer links on every page. Change it up a bit so that you can target an even greater variety of anchor text.

- Improving fonts of a webpage: Fonts of webpage are also important to make web page user friendly. Having too little, too large or too complex font may become illegible on some browsers. So always be careful while using fonts on your webpage because if fonts are not proper visitor immediately move from the page.
- Always create webpage using default font of most browsers like Ariel, Times new roman, verdana etc.
- Always make headings or titles in bold and underline most important lines of your webpage.
- Avoid using unusual fonts unless they are in graphics and italics as plain text is more legible than italics.
- Do not use light text on dark background as it creates visibility problem in reading.
- Improving Content of a webpage: Content is the king of a webpage and there is no substitute of good content. Content of a web page has more importance than any other factor to continue visitor on a particular page because content is the only thing that a visitor read.

What is Google Sitemaps?
Sitemap is a beta technology which was provided by google to improve crawlers/bots indexing accuracy.
How it works?
Sitemap is a file which contain a list of URLs of pages within your web site that you want to be indexed. Just place those URLs in sitemap and google crawler will visit them.

A little explanation
First 5 lines of code is a “headers” - You don’t need to edit them.
<url></url> - Everything between those two is Your single URL info.
<loc></loc> - The URL of destination page. This is required!
<lastmod></lastmod> - Date and time of the last modification. Optional.
<changefreq></changefreq> - You can “tell” google bot how often Your site is updated. Optional.
<priority></priority> - How this site is “important” (between 0.1 to 1 scale). Optional.

You have to remember, that sitemap can carry up to 50.000 sites or 10MB of data.

Google seems to be rapidly becoming the most popular search engine. Submitting, getting listed and getting a high ranking in Google can get you a lot of traffic, usually even more than Yahoo. Google uses link popularity while ranking web sites which results in quality search results therefore making it a favorite among most web searchers.

You need to only submit your homepage to Google. It will automatically index the entire site. Don’t submit individual pages of your site.
Tip: Google’s crawler Googlebot will follow all the links in your site. So make sure all your pages are linked otherwise some of your pages will not get indexed.

Getting listed in Google is usually very fast. We got listed within 2 weeks and all our new pages are usually listed within a month. The time frame depends on their crawl schedule and how many other web sites are in queue to be indexed before ours. In our experience, Google usually lists a site within a month.
Tip: Make sure your web site is ready before you submit it to be listed. Google will index your entire site, content and all. It takes keywords from the metatags as well as the content. You’ll find that Google will send you the maximum amount of traffic (in our case it is triple of what Yahoo send us - and Yahoo is supposed to be the #1 Search Engine), so time well spent on your web site will pay off in the long run.
Tip: Google usually indexes sites during the 2nd week and lists new content during the first few days of the next month. We usually see our new content added on the 2nd or 3rd of the month. A safe bet is to wait for a month to see new pages listed.
- Ranking in Google
Getting listed in Google is pretty easy but what really matters is your ranking. The best way to get a high ranking in Google is to have many sites linking to your site. As Google uses link popularity as its most important factor in ranking web sites, getting many sites to link to you is your best bet in getting a high ranking. Get quality links and increased visitor traffic with only minutes of submission efforts!
Tip: Try to develop quality content which is different from what other sites are offering and you’re guaranteed to get a high ranking in Google. Think of specialized keywords instead of using generic terms. Using generic keywords would usually land you in the 30th or 40th page whereas using specialized, or a combination of keywords would get you in the 1st or 2nd page of search results. Think of writing articles that others have not written and you’re sure to come up in the first 10 search results. E.g If we were to write an article on web design we would probably come up in the 100th page of search results, whereas if we were to write on ‘Creating Swap Images in Fireworks’ we would probably come up in the first 10 search results.

- Make sure all your important keywords should appear in your title, description, content and alt tags of your web page. This increases your keyword density and helps in boosting your ranking.
- Write articles, give away freebies and make your site a quality site with fresh content. Sites will automatically link to you thus increasing your link popularity.

Search engine index means when you search your website on search engine it shows results having your site in the list of search engine results. Search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN use software called crawler to find web pages for their search results. Go to Google search engine and enter the keyword of your site, let say it is ?internet marketing? and search it, you will see a list of Google search results. Visit each website and notice its page rank. Find a website of page rank 5 or higher and search its link page (I shall tell you what a link is later). Contact the website for getting link to your website from one of high page rank webpage and in return you will place their link on your website. If you will be able to place your link on their website to yours then you will be indexed by the search engine quickly.
If you would be able to get 1 link from a website of PR5 to your website then you will be indexed by Google within 3 days. Similarly if you get link on PR6 then you will be indexed by Google within 24 hours. If you have your own website of high PR then place link of your new website and be indexed in search engine. Once Google search engine indexed your website then you can remove your link from you high PR website.
This was the simple method for indexing on a search engine, if you have a good website in all respect. Sometimes a website is submitted in a search engine but it is not indexed by the search engine or it takes a long time to index it. There are many reasons which prevent a webpage from being indexed in a search engine. Some of them are:
- There should be enough time for search engines to index your web pages and your website should not be already indexed. Different search engines take different time for indexing which is normally from one to eight weeks. - Your pages should not take much time in loading and should not be complex. The time out is possible before spider can index the text. Keep your pages small and fast in loading for you visitors and search engine benefits. Most webmasters recommend your web page size 50kb or less.
- If you are using frames for your website content then it can create problems with submissions. It is possible that search engine index a part of your website but not the other frame. So try to develop non-framed menus or website design because they are search engine friendly.
- It is impossible for search engines to index website that require password or registration. Search engine spiders cannot provide passwords or complete registration process by filling registration forms. Search engine spiders are unable to read dynamic pages so they ignore those pages. If there is any special symbol in the URL then search engines can ignore it. So your pages should be simple and static for easy indexing. It does not mean that if you use some script in your website then your page will not be indexed or lower your rankings. But this script should not be too much fancy then search engine ignore the JavaScript code and read the remaining page.
- Some search engines give importance to external links. These search engines index your home page only; other pages are not indexed until you get one or more links from other domains. For indexing your web pages there should be external links within a specific period of time. It becomes easy to get indexed, stay indexed to achieve top ranking. So submit your site in major directories first to get listing in search engines.
- Many search engines don’t index websites that are hosted on free servers like geocities or the index limited number of pages of those free websites. So you should be professional and buy your own domain from a respected web host. Because the traffic, which is generated from search engines, is more valuable from the cost that you save by getting a free hosting service provides. Free web hosts are often unreliable and they force to display banners, which send visitors away.
- If your web host is unreliable then it can create problem in indexing your web pages. Suppose when the search engine spider visits your site but your website is not responding then you will not be indexed. But if you are indexed and spider revisits your site but your site id down due to unreliability of your host then your website might be removed from their database. So keep a close eye on your web host service and uptime.
- Your website’s IP should be unique because if you share IP with another website on the same server, then your IP can be banned in result of what another website did.

- We can choose some related keywords for our website but do not choose the top keyword because you will face great competition with top keyword. - For more keyword ideas go to Google KeywordTool and get keyword idea for website content. Paste URLs of websites you selected from Google and Yahoo search results one by one to get keyword idea. After clicking on get keyword idea a long list of keywords is generated. Analyze and narrow down the list of keywords on which you want to focus.
- Open word tracker and search each keyword phrase. Analyze the related keywords that word tracker suggests then shorten that list up to some keywords.
- For further purification of keywords repeat the same process at Keyword Discovery. The word “Health” is searched for 280062 times and the website which hold top position also have good rank. So it would be difficult to compete using this keyword with websites having good ranking on search engine.

- Now we find keyword phrases like “care health”, “health educator” etc. If we use “care health” as keyword then the top site having this keyword has page rank 5, with which we can compete. Now we have selected and shortened the list of keywords with the help of Google, Wordtracker and keyword discovery.

- Now open Google search engine and type your selected keyword phrases within quotes. With this Google will show the list of only those websites having exact phrase. Check how many pages contain that phrase. Lower the number of pages having the exact phrase better it is to compete with lesser competitors.
- We can use this keyword for our homepage (i.e. www.domain.com) to get immediate advantages. Now with the help of these keywords write quality content which will make your website great for your visitors. Your keywords should be used properly and in an informative and innovative way.
There are some rules which we should follow to make our website search engine friendly
- Use group of words as keyword.
- Your keyword and description of website should be relevant to your website theme.
- Try to understand your visitors’ requirements and demands.
- Choose a narrow list of keywords which should be less competitive.
- Localize your keywords but not to much limited or localized.
- Choose a primary keyword for which to optimize your web page and some secondary keywords that can increase your potential visitors.
- Use 3 or 4 different keyword on each of your web page.
- Place your keywords in title tag, header tag, ALT tag, anchor tag, Meta tags and comments etc.
- Don’t misspell your keywords.
- Check keyword density for your keyword, the higher the density the better it is.

Using the best keywords for search engine optimization is a very important thing when you promote a web site. The purpose of this research is to find something that your possible clients search when they are searching to buy your product, but you should also pick some keywords that have little competition.
For example “free stuff” is a search term that gets thousands of queries every day, but most of the sites in the top results have thousands of incoming links so it would be very hard to compete them, while a search term like “free cellphones” or “free computer stuff” could be easier to chase.
